Post by w***@yahoo.co.ukPost by William BlackPost by B***@isp.comThere was a time when *all* British towns were white.
Well...
No...
There were certainly South Asian settlements, usually called 'colonies' at
that time, in England in the seventeenth century.
Imbecile.
There was one in South Shields (poor buggers) they were celebrating a few
years ago.
Post by w***@yahoo.co.ukPost by William BlackThere are records that indicate that Cromwell's Roundheads contained both
Turks and Ethiopians.
No there aren't.
Thus the Lord gives him into my hand...
<To quote old Ollie>
Ethiopians first because you can get on your push bike, go to Leeds and
look it up easily as they're rather proud of it.
The records relating to the disbanding of Popham's Horse still exist and are
now in the library of the Royal Armouries at Leeds after that establishment
acquired the papers at Littlecotte House along with its armoury some years
ago.
On the 'ticket of leave' page this regiment of dragoons, on being
disbanded, were informed that they were allowed to claim expenses for the
journey home. One file (six men) requested expenses for travel to Ethiopia.
Now for Turks, that's a touch more speculative as they may have been Gulf
Arabs well off course...
The court records report that in Portsmouth in 1643 a 'Saracen ship' put
into port after a storm. The crew were found by the court to be destitute
and unable to pay the fees due for port use and they were sentenced to be
either locked up indefinitely or to join the Army of Parliament. They opted
for the army...
Back under your bridge...

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Barbeques on fire by the chalets past the castle headland
I watched the gift shops glitter in the darkness off the Newborough gate
All these moments will be lost in time, like icecream on the beach
Time for tea.
